1 Details

Introduction

The editors welcome submissions of materials concerned with all aspects of language education, particularly those with relevance to Qatar and the Gulf region. See below for specific categories and article requirements.

Submissions should be original teaching techniques or a lesson plan you have used to good effect. Readers should be able to replicate your technique or lesson plan. Submissions should:

  • be up to 1,000 words.
  • have the article title, the author name, affiliation, email address and word count at the top of the first page.
  • include a Quick Guide to the lesson plan or teaching technique.
  • have tables, figures, appendices, etc. attached as separate files.
  • be sent as an email attachment.

Example of a Quick Guide:

Key Words: Listening, Materials Design
Learner English Level: High Beginner through Adult
Learner Maturity Level: Junior High through Adult
Preparation Time: 10 minutes to white out selected lines of text and Xerox copy
Activity Time: 30 - 40 minutes

 

Books & Educational Material Reviews

We invite review of books, websites and other educational materials like language learning software. Submissions should:

  • show a thorough understanding of the material reviewed.
  • reflect actual classroom usage in the case of classroom materials.
  • be thoroughly checked and proofread before submission.

Language Fun!

Do you know fun facts about the origins of idioms, words, or aphorisms? How about unique word games? Share a bit of information, a game, or some language trivia.

School Highlight

What's special about your school? Submit an article telling about a unique project, a special award your school (or a teacher at your school) ha received, or a unique initiative at your institution. Keep the Qatar TESOL community informed by sharing best practices. Submissions must be related to English language teaching and can be up to 1,500 words.

Letters to the Editor

If you have attended a conference in a topic of interest to language teachers in Qatar or the Gulf region, write a 1,000 - 1,500 word report summarizing the main events. Send as an email attachment to the editors.

Events

If you have attended a conference, workshop, or event relating to a topic of interest to language teachers in Qatar, write a report summarizing the main events.

Views and Interviews

If you are interested in interviewing a well-known professional in the field of language teaching in and around the Qatar or the Gulf region, or someone presenting at an international conference, please consult the editors first to see if the interview would be appropriate for our newsletter.

Qatar TESOL Announcements

Submissions should be of general relevance to language learners and teachers in Qatar or the Gulf region, such as Calls for Papers, conference announcements, or research projects. The announcement should be a maximum of 150 words.
